Untitled :: A Drabble

Welcome to the start of the weekend, aka Friday. I’m back with a drabble.  What’s a drabble? A drabble is a short work of fiction, exactly 100 words in length.

Join me. Create your own 100-word piece of fiction. The more dabbling with drabbles the merrier. Tag your post with ‘Friday Drabble’ and use the hash-tag #fridaydrabble on Twitter.

As will be the case whenever there is a “Wednesday’s What is It?”, I want to mention the mystery photo before you get to the drabble. The photo was, as I expected, an easy one this week. Many people guessed correctly, but the first was Ms. CynkingFeeling. Congratulations to you, CF. I hope you’ll play again next week.

And, just like last week, I’ve hidden the answer in the drabble. Enjoy!

“Is it ready?” Jenny asked.

“Yep,” Mike answered. “Grip the lever.”

Jenny gripped the lever but nothing happened.

“Uh Mike.” Jenny turned to her younger brother. “You do know how this works, right? You did turn it on, right?”

Mike mumbled under his breath. He was sick of his sister always speaking to him in a condescending tone.

“Uh Jenny.” He mimicked his sister. “Maybe the thing is clogged.”

Jenny rolled her eyes and looked at the spout, just as Mike lifted his foot.

Suddenly, water gushed out from the garden hose and into Jenny’s face.

“Got ya!” Mike yelled.

  1. You know what? RIGHT before I started reading I mentally hit myself in the forehead and realized what it was. Summers were so much more fun when we were little, hooking those up to fun sprinklers. We can’t fit those on our patio.

    Great story. Totally knew where it was going. Not because it ever happened to me though.

  2. I love the way that you are combining the “what is it” picture with the Friday drabble.
    And can I say that I can’t believe I got this one! I’m usually completely mystified.

That was my thought on the matter. Your comment?
