Project 366: Day 286 “Ten Years, Man! Ten ye- Ten years! Ten years! ….”

Grosse Pointe Blank is one of my all time favorite movies. There is a scene with Jeremy Piven and John Cusack that I refer to whenever someone refers to “10 years” in any way, shape, or form.

Today I am referring to “10 years” because 10 years ago Rob and I were married. “Ten years, Man! Ten ye – Ten years! Ten years! Ten! Ten years! Ten years.” In other news, 10yrs ago I still had blonde hair. Alas, I lost the blonde after giving birth, but I didn’t lose Rob. I’ll put that down as a win.

Not to take the attention away from our anniversary, but I do want to share the specific scene in Grosse Pointe Blank that I refer to frequently. Now you know. You’re welcome.

  1. I have always believed that baseball caps are the secret to a happy marriage.

Ok, I haven’t always believed that, but I’m going to start.

Happy anniversary, you two crazy kids!

    1. It’s a good plan, Hipster. Next bridal shower you attend – buy her a him/her baseball cap, and watch as they life happily ever after.
      Thanks for the well wishes.

  2. HAPPY, HAPPY  ANNIVERSARY ROB AND LENORE. YOU TWO HAVE A BEAUTIFUL LIFE AND BEAUTIFUL FAMILY.

    ENJOY YOUR DAY AND EVENING.

    PS.

MY DAUGHTER IN MI. IS CELEBRATING 26 YERS WITH MY WONDERFUL SON-IN-LAW TOMORROW. THEY GAVE ME MY 4 WONDERFUL  GRANDCHILDREN.

    1. Thank you, Lisa. The memory is of the ceremony, because the celebration consisted of the usual night-time routine. And, we were in bed before 11pm. Life is good. 🙂

      1. You’ve got that right!!! And together – what a team.

There were times I didn’t think we would make it either…I guess we each never wanted to call it quits at the same time. I hope you have so many more years together…and that they are very good years.

  3. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY LENNIE VO AND ROB! And you know what else is awesome? That WE are STILL friends after 10 years! Actually, more than that, but whatever. Oh wait, this isn’t about us is it? And on a COMPLETELY unrelated topic – so cool that Ben and Jerry saw your blog!

    1. Oma, I have awesome siblings. They put together a great ‘after party’. We had a traditional wedding with the reception ‘immediately’ following the ceremony at the church. When the reception was over our closest friends headed to my sister’s house for an all night bash. So very much fun. I like your idea of getting a slide for an anniversary celebration. We may have to get one for the 15th – aw heck, the 11th. We’ll invite you. Promise.

    1. I heart that scene so much, Leonore. It’s ridiculous how many times it plays in my head when someone says “10 years”. Cracks me up every time, too. Rumor on the street is that I don’t have a life. I’m not sure why folks think that is true. *sigh*

  4. Ten Years!! Wow! Ten Years! Congratulations!!! Happy anniversary to you both. That’s something to be proud of. Loved the slideshow of you guys- your wedding reception looks like it was a blast. Thanks for the video. I may have to borrow that in about 5 weeks when my son turns 10.

    1. Your son is going to be 10 soon? You had him 10 years ago. 10! 10 years! 10 years. 🙂
The pictures are from the ‘after party’, which my siblings put together. It was great fun.
Thanks for the well wishes, Susan.

  5. Ten Years??? Yessssssssss Ten Years! Way to go and congratulations to you both. I love the photos – and the love – that’s in this post.

    You were a darling bride!

    Hugs and love to you,
    MJ

    1. Thank you very much, MJ. 3yrs ago, I never imagined we’d make it to 10yrs. Now, I am confident we’ll live out the ‘happily ever after’. Well, the ‘ever after’ at least. (smile) Hugs and love back to you, my friend.

  6. Jane and Peter threw you the best After Reception Party ever. What a grand time! Here’s to a lifetime more, Lenore & Rob! Love you both bunches!
p.s. I, too, lost my blonde with the birth of my first child. What we do for our kids! And right from Day #1!!
