Another Dabble at a Drabble

Influenced by a fellow blogger, I’ve decided to devote the next few (or more) Fridays to drabbles. What is a drabble? Well, quoting that fellow blogger, Stevil , “a drabble is a very short story of exactly 100 words.”

Just as Steve does when he drabbles, I invite you to participate and suggest you tag your post with ‘Friday Drabble’ and use the hashtag #fridaydrabble on Twitter.

She watched from the window, while the mailman opened the mailbox and placed items inside it. Black smoke spewed from the mail truck muffler, as the mailman moved on to the next house.

She knew the chances were great; the letter was in the mailbox.

The information she would receive was already known by those who sent the letter. The news was in the universe and things were changing. Yet, until she received the information herself, her life remained unchanged.

In a sense, time stood still for her.

Closing her eyes and taking a deep breath, she opened the door.

  1. Drabble, a one hundred word story to post on Friday. Great idea.

Your dabble at a drabble is a tittlating tale that leaves the reader mystified.

    1. I don’t know … seems every time we are waiting for news, the universe gets it before we do. Time stands still for us, until we receive the news. Honestly, when I had the idea, I was thinking college acceptance letter, but see – that ruins the moment.

    1. Nope, I didn’t know. I didn’t want to know, either. I simply wanted to capture the fact that until we get the news – time stands still. Life remains unchanged. Ignorance is bliss. Jazz hands!! (smile)

That was my thought on the matter. Your comment?
