2012: A Photo A Day

Full disclosure, I took this picture last year (2011). Because I have yet to see this guy in 2012 – I did the best I could with what I had on file.

The story goes, this guy cried when my Mom brought me home from the hospital. He was the one boy in a family of four – now five – girls, and he was not happy about that fact. If the story is true, it may explain why he and I annoy each other.

Regardless of the picking and bickering, we still love each other. (Whatever. You love me!) Our Dad died before I was married, and this guy honored me by walking me down the aisle. (Bonus: He didn’t even trip me!) So today, January 9th 2012, I wish my one and only brother (the best one and only brother) a happy 50th birthday! Cheers to you! Caffeine, please carry me through the year.

If you are a drinker of alcoholic beverages, you may know the phenomena that occurs when one has had an excess of the adult beverage. Your confidence peaks and wondrous ideas fill your mind. You feel as though you are – to quote one Leonardo DiCaprio character – ‘King of the world!’

Yes, then you go to bed. When you wake in the morning, the wondrous ideas that filled your mind are replaced with a pounding head. The idea to start a company selling ice cubes doesn’t hold the same appeal as it did the previous night. The passionate and thought-out plan to ‘stick it to the man’ suddenly sounds like a death sentence, and you scrap the idea. Continue reading “Caffeine, please carry me through the year.”
