Somebody’s Out There

I am participating in Monday Listicles, a weekly creation started by Stasha at The Good Life. The idea for today’s list comes from Bruna at Bees with Honey“If they were to make a movie of your life what would the soundtrack be like? Share 10 songs that best tell the story of your life. Be sure to include the period or event that each song represents.”

Initially, I had all sorts of songs I wanted to include in the soundtrack of my life – many more than 10, that’s for certain. However, as I began writing and remembering, I realized my life today is what matters most to me. Rest assured, I still managed to embarrass myself by revealing just how desperate I was in high school. (My apologies in advance, Joe and Charlie.)

Project 366: Day 18

Today is my neighbor’s birthday. She has three kids – a boy and two girls. Our kids play together just about every day. Having kids next door is a fantastic thing. But honestly, having a neighbor like my neighbor is priceless. She is a wonderful friend.

This past weekend, while her son was playing with my boys, I looked outside the door and saw his shoes. The way he left his shoes made it look like a ghost was just outside our door.

Alone in a conversation of silence

The sun is up, its rays starting to slip through the blinds, gently lightening the room. The smell of fresh brewed coffee fills the air, mixing with the morning conversations. She is surrounded by friends, yet she feels alone.

True, there is a history of drama prior to trips. The packing, the cleaning, the caring for the kids creates tension within her. She tries to keep it inside, but more often than not – the tension breaks out, spewing anger everywhere. Continue reading “Alone in a conversation of silence”
