Have you ever seen a candle sunset? Prior to August 4, 2012, I had not seen one. It is pretty amazing. The last shot reminds me of our trip to Florida, when we watched the launch of the last space shuttle.

I am married. We have two boys, two dogs, and two cats. I am on the Oxford Comma team. I look forward to my first large cup of coffee, black, every single morning, and I look forward to that second large cup of coffee, still black, every single afternoon.

Simply beautiful.
I thought so, too. In fact, I took way too many pictures of that sunset. But … you probably know that.
This image is a heart stopper. Stupendous!
Blessings – Maxi
We watched with our mouths wide open, Maxi. Really amazing.
I still wonder what atmospheric conditions create this…. Great captures!
I have no idea, but I am curious, too.
So cool!
Pretty ding dang cool, eh? I know! 🙂
Gorgeous!
*sigh* Yes, it was gorgeous. I was in the right place at the right time.
Holy Wow! I’ve never heard of one of those. FRAME IT!
Now that you know, you can keep your eyes out for one.
Someone in that direction must have celebrated a really HUGE birthday! 🙂
Ha. Two days later my Mom celebrated her 80th. I think we were still getting the afterglow. 🙂
Wow, that’s amazing!
I agree, Patti. Glad you liked it.
Beautiful, Ms. D!!!
Without your back-story I would have almost guessed that effect was created in Photoshop because I’ve never seen anything like it… wild!
🙂
And aside from adding my name, the photo was not touched up at all. This was a ‘straight from the camera’ presentation.
This is just amazing. I’ve not seen anything like it before. I wonder what causes its ‘verticalness’?
Hello Val. I am glad you liked this picture. I’ll have to search and see if I can find the how and why it happens. It is a mystery.
I’ve never heard that – lovely!
You are not alone. I had not heard of one until I saw it.
