Project 366: Day 61

If you must know, I am a shy person. If you and I were to meet in a crowded room, my face would turn a vibrant shade of red, I would stammer with your name, and I would smile and nod nervously. Immediately following our greeting, I would retreat to the farthest end of the room, where I would remain to watch the social ones chit-chatting and being friendly.

It’s not that I am not friendly. I am friendly. I just don’t do well in groups. I’d much rather sit at a small table with a few folks.

Having said that… Today is my birthday, and I am all about getting the word out and celebrating my day.

It’s my birthday! It’s my birthday! But please, avoid eye contact with me, or I’ll turn red and run. It’s my birthday! It’s my birthday!

.:.

Forty-three years ago, my brother cried. My Mom gave birth to another girl.

.:.

Forty-three years ago, bath-time was fun-time. Now, I avoid showers and baths. Maybe I should buy a boat.

.:.

Forty-three years ago, my parents had the cutest kids:
Corkey, Carol, Jane, Joe D., Leslie and Me.

Happy 43rd birthday to me!

    1. Is your cousin’s name really Corkey, or is it a nickname? Corkey’s birth name is Constance.
Thanks for the birthday wishes, Georgette. Yeah, my parents did pretty good. πŸ™‚

      1. Peg if you can open a separate comment box for short story entries that can contain only 400 characters, etc, etc, I just know you can push the ALT key w/ your left pinky then 13 with your right hand…really, really, easy peasy. β™ͺ (Unless you’re on a laptop…I’m lost without my num pad.)

  1. Most people believe that on their birthday they celebrate how old they are. You actually celebrate the DAY you were born…

Happy Birthday, Lenore. Our world is a better place because of you.

    Blessings – Maxi

  2. That’s wonderful! Wishing you the very happiest of birthday’s Ms. D!
That into sounded very familiar… hmm… maybe it’s a Pisces thing?
Anyway, enough of that… back to the party!
    Huzzah! Huzzah!
    πŸ™‚

  3. Happy Birthday. I think you must be related. I did Kimmy’s hair the exact same way; her color was the same and… she still avoids eye contact in crowds. She much prefers same, very small groups.

    1. Thank you for the birthday wishes. Your comment assures me that the day Kim and I meet face to face, we’ll both be content sitting at a table in the corner. (Talking about everyone else in the room.)

      1. Oh, and by the way, I also sent Happy Birthday wishes on GG’s blog and you just ignored me. Walked right by my happy, eager, birthday-wishing face because DARLA was jumping up and down and waving her hands and doing a holla and all. Not that I’m bitter or anything.

Going for a gallon of Ben & Jerry’s Dublin Mudslide right now to drown my sorrows.

        1. Frack! Seriously? You gave me a shout out on GG’s blog? Dang. Well, Darla does have big arms and hands. Plus, did you see her Vlog? Her teeth are huge!

Sorry, Peg. I did not mean to overlook you. Next time… stand up!

  4. Wow, your parents really DID produce the cutest kids – like you could win a competition or something with that level of cuteness.

Happy, happy birthday (pretend I have great techno-skills and I inserted a dancing, singing ice cream cone in this comment) to you!

    1. Amazing, eh? Not sure what happened during the later years. Funny thing about aging.

Your serenade was stupendous! And, I am not just saying that because you threw in a dancing ice cream cone, either. Mmmm…. dancing ice cream cone…..

  5. Hi Lenore,
A very Happy Birthday, and I hope you had a wonderful day. πŸ˜€
I love the photos, it is great that we keep old photos to look back on.

    1. Hello Mags. Thank you for the happy birthday wishes. I am glad you liked the pictures. I plan on creating a photo book at the end of the year. My hope is that the boys will treasure this ‘documented’ year. Having my baby pictures included is a nice touch. Their Dad’s pictures will be posted too, I hope.

    1. Paul, I knew you would come through for me. Please try to enjoy more chocolate ice cream than vanilla or strawberry. Although, I do approve of mixing chocolate with strawberry. Thank you.

  6. Oh, Lenore, Happy Happy Birthday. I did have ice cream – Moose Tracks, to be exact. I didn’t know why I wanted a little bowl so much – now it all makes sense. I did it for you!

    Your family is seriously cute…seriously.

    1. Thank you, K8. I am thrilled to learn you enjoyed a bowl of ice cream today. Feel free to eat out of the container for my birthday next year!

I hope you are feeling 100% now!

  7. Well, happy birthday to YOU! (Shouting from my safe place on the other side of the room). Love the pix.

  8. Happy (belated) birthday to a fellow introvert!

Nice family photo! I’m guessing the two oldest girls are twins? Not sure what makes me think that. πŸ™‚

Hope you had a good b-day!

    1. Thank you, Random. Let the fellow introverts unite!! (In their own corners.) Actually, Corkey and Carol are not twins, though I am certain my Mom got that alot. I get that alot with Joe and Charlie. With little time separating the two.
Oh… and the matching clothes. πŸ™‚

      1. Yeah, I think it was the matching clothes and that their names both start with C (assuming they are the ones whose names are Corkey and Carol).

  9. Aw, I’m so sorry to have missed your actual birthday, but I hope it was swell–as swell, indeed, as these pics! πŸ™‚

    1. Happy birthday wishes are never too late, Charles. Feel free to share those wishes again with me next week or next month. Every day is a celebration, right?
Glad you liked the pictures. Good to see you. Thank you for visiting.

  10. Happy Birthday, Lenore!! My goodness, look how blond you all were (still are?)!!

Hey, it’s one more way in which we are very similar but you’re either missing a character or I have an extra one. Our names are one letter off and our birthdays are one digit off. Mine is March 11th πŸ™‚ And, your parents had 6 kids and mine had 5! Wow, I’m getting a little stalkery here, aren’t I? Or wait…maybe you’re getting stalkery!

Well, sorry it’s belated (Fri and Sat are my hard days this semester) but I hope you had a fantabulous day!

    1. I confess… I am the stalker in this relationship. Wait. Is it too early to claim this is a relationship? (Based solely on stalking, I assure you.)
I think the connections are wonderfully coincidental. In fact, the coincidences affirm my need to stalk you. πŸ™‚

Thank you for the belated well wishes. I would never turn down well wishes – on time or belated. Oh and my hair color these days? Dark. After giving birth to my boys, the color was sucked out. Interestingly enough, they are blonde. Crooks!!

That was my thought on the matter. Your comment?
