In case you are new here, you’re late. No worries, better late than never.
I am on day 24 of 25 days and 25 different performances of the Christmas song, “O Holy Night”. If you are good at counting, you may notice we only have one day left.
Two of my sisters and I love the song “O Holy Night”. After a series of emails with one of my sisters, I came up with the idea of sharing different versions/performances of the song “O Holy Night”.
I wish you a merry Christmas Eve, as I welcome you to version number 24.
I admit it. This guy may not belong in the number #2 slot. I considered releasing his version earlier in the countdown, but I held on to him. I love him. His music brings back so many memories for me, including going through a sister’s album collection and staring at the album which shows his smiling face, scraggly-cut hair, glasses and a hat.
If I am with a group of friends and there is a guitar handy, his tunes fill the air. When I am driving in the car, his tunes fill the air. In fact, my kids request his songs. (Clearly, I’m doing something right.)
I saw him in concert, shortly before he died. (Seeing him in concert after he died would prove tricky.)
My love for this guy is enough that I could give him the #1 slot, alas that position is saved for the guy that got my sisters and I talking about this song.
As you settle in to Christmas Eve, please enjoy listening to John Denver sing “O Holy Night”.
Lovely!!! I wore out my John Denver album as a teen, and also had such a crush that I sent a letter to him and received a cherished autographed photo in return!
AA, knowing you have an autographed picture of JD makes me smile. You are one cool chick. Can I call you a chick? (smile) Merry Christmas!
Lenore Merry Christmas to you & your family. May this season will bring lot more happiness, peace & success in yours life.
Best wishes to you all! Happy Holidays! 🙂
Thank you, Arindam. I wish the same to you and your family.
His voice was so sweet and pure, and my memories of him are also tied to a Sister’s album. She and her husband danced to “Lady, my sweet Lady” at their wedding. I still can’t hear his songs without tearing up a bit.
Beautiful choice, Lenore!
Merry Christmas,
MJ
Awesome, MJ. Like you, I tear up to some of John Denver’s tunes. I am happy you appreciated his performance.
All the best to you, MJ!
This was lovely, Lenore. Merry Christmas!
Glad you liked it. Merry Christmas to you, too!
I’m so sorry that John Denver is no longer making new songs. When I listen to him sing this beautiful song, I have a strong sense of his deep loneliness – my imagination, obviously, but none of the others have struck me in that manner.
Our thoughts of him are actually prayers. You’re to be thanked.
When I read that first sentence, it ought to say “is no longer HERE making…”
Excellent point, Amy.
Oh, I am glad you enjoyed this performance. I love finding other John Denver fans. Thank you, Amy.
Obviously, we have similar tastes in music. Love this!
You have excellent taste, my friend! (smile)
