Liking the sound of my own writing

We gathered at my brother’s house this past weekend. We were celebrating the high school graduation of my brother’s daughter. All my siblings came to the celebration, so the house was full.

At one point, everyone got together while my niece opened her cards and presents from the countless well-wishers. After the 50th (or was it the 50th gabillion) card, the peanut gallery became slap happy. Facial expressions, rolling eyes and hand signals were used when the lengthier cards were read aloud. Today is Friday? Sorry; I was distracted.

Back to the routine and being busy –
The running around makes me dizzy.

The job, the kids and my beloved spouse,
Not to mention keeping house.

I’m not complaining; my life is good.
And the family is healthy, knock on wood.

I’ve also put a new year’s resolution in motion –
Tossing out several empty bottles of lotion.

Still, keeping one train of thought is tough;

So, this is a new year, eh?

It is the start of another week, and the end of the year holidays have come and gone. I can feel myself exhale, as I slip into the comfort of a routine. And, though the calendar indicates a new year has started, today seemed just like another day on any given year. Well, I am potty trained now, so obviously I am not counting my diaper wearing years.
