Adventure Girl Trail Tales: Update #6

When we last left Adventure Girl, she was somewhere around Daleville, VA. Following her this week has been harder, due to spotty coverage with her SPOT Satellite Messenger. Imagine – the Appalachian Trail winds through areas with less than desirable cell coverage. Who would have thought such a thing?

No worries, Readers. Adventure Girl continues along her way at a pretty good clip. According to her Mom, her right shin is giving her trouble every now and then, but her left shin is feeling fine.

Before I continue with the tales of Adventure Girl, I have a confession. Always donning my Editor’s hat, I have a tendency to edit Adventure Girl’s trail journal prior to sharing it with you. Friends (and family for that matter) advise you to give yourself a cooling off period. Well, I am doing my best to keep the voices in my head, giving myself  the recommended cooling off period. Alas, as I mentioned earlier, the voices increase when I stumble across other posts, news articles, editorials, etc. Continue reading “I’m serious about the voices.”

A smile came across my face when I thought about checking into a hotel room for the weekend. Quiet time by myself. Time to sit, write and relax with only the noise in my head distracting me. Then I thought about finding a hotel room with an indoor pool. The boys could join me on Saturday afternoon for an indoor pool day. As I thought about my weekend getaway, I could hear the laughter of the boys playing in the water, and I could feel the refreshing water being splashed in my direction.
