I’m known for two things:
1.) having conversations with myself, and 2.) my love of ice cream.
What follows is one of those things – maybe two.
.::.
“Ew? What do you mean ‘ew’? Lenore, this is pure goodness, my friend. I’m dipping my chocolate bar into my peanut butter.”
“That’s gross; and, it is messy. You are getting peanut butter everywhere.”
“This is not gross, though I agree I am making a mess. If only I had a bag of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Life is better with Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.”
“Says you. No offense, but I don’t care for those things.”
“What – you have a problem with chocolate?”
“No, I don’t like the peanut butter.”
“Seriously, Lenore?”
“Well, I like peanut butter on sandwiches, but I don’t care for it as an ingredient in snacks and baked goods. Oh wait – I have been known to do some damage to Nutter Butter Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookies.”
“Those cookies don’t even have chocolate on them. How can you like those and NOT Reese’s?”
“I don’t know.”
“Look around you… folks love the creamy peanut butter goodness, surrounded by the even creamier even goodnessier chocolaty goodness.”
“Goodnessier?”
“Just go with it. And really, look around. You’ll find the young and the old enjoying Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. You’ll even find the love found with sharing a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. Who knows, some may even propo – “
“Do not tell me proposals have taken place using Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. I don’t buy that for a second.”
“Well, I can’t say as I have seen any actual proposals, but I’ve definitely seen Reese’s used as an expression of love and affection. Then again, I’ve also seen it used for evil. Not pretty.”
“Do tell.”
“I’ll do better than tell you, Lenore. I’ll show you. Have a look.”
.:.
“Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups are a hand-full of joy for kids. They love the chocolate/peanut butter combination. But, a word of warning: their handfuls of joy are targeted mean-looking, candy stealing, pierced, bearded men, waiting to grab hold of the chocolate and peanut buttery goodness.”
“These mean-looking, candy stealing, pierced and bearded men feed off of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. No one is safe; not even cute kids with glasses.”
“Mean-looking, pierced and bearded men cannot get enough of the creamy goodness that is a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.”
“I know. Don’t look him in the eye, especially if you do not have any Reese’s to offer him.”
“You realize he doesn’t make me want to try one, right?”
“I admit, he is bit of a deterrent, but bad guys deserve goodness, too. In any case, I have happy moments to share with you. For instance, check out these couples. The guys are extending their love by offering their Reese’s.”
“Of course, one was offered a Reese’s Peanut Butter Egg instead of a Peanut Butter Cup; and well, I think she wanted the cup… “
“Seriously, could you get any sweeter?”
“I admit, they look pretty cute, and the chocolate does look delicious.”
“You know what? Another neat thing about Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups is the fact that old folks like them, too. In fact, one need not have all their teeth to enjoy a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.”
“Oh come on now. How could something so creamy, soft and delicious be wrong? Even the teeth-challenged deserve the chocolatey peanut butter goodness. Lenore, the fact is simple, when you put a bowl of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups out on the table, you are left with nothing but trash.”
“Okay, you are tweaking my interest in rethinking my stance on Reese’s. Still, I’m an ice cream girl.”
“Wait. Hold that thought, Lenore. I have an idea.”
“Oh my goodness; oh my goodness. You are the BEST voice inside my head. I don’t care what the other voices say.”
“What?! Those voices totally tell you what I tell them to tell you. Don’t even start with – “
“Forget it; forget it. I’m sorry. The ice cream is starting to melt. May I try it, please?”
“Yes, go ahead.”
“Mmmm…Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup and ice cream goodness. Please give me a moment or five.”
“See, Lenore? I told you. Now, here’s to better living through Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.”
“Yes! Cheers!”

But wait! There is more!! Today is the 19th – and this is just one of 18 other posts about Better Living Through Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Please click on the picture (below) to find links to other cleverly written Reese’s Pieces. Just do it!
I am going to try this sandwich today!
You will NOT be disappointed. Please come back and let me know how much you loved it.
And it did not!
Excellent.
Fascinating pictoral tales of the power of the candy. But I can’t understand the girl spurning the egg in favor of the cup – everyone knows the holiday shapes have the ideal chocolate to creamy ratio – it’s a scientific fact.
(We did it! Whoo hoo!)
Your point is excellent, Peg. Maybe the sunlight confused her.
I applaud you, Peg! We did it – because YOU did it! YOU pulled this off! Bravo! Bravo!!
Y’know, until now I had never considered pairing ice cream with my pb cups, but you’ve inspired me.
You’ve learned well, Darla. My work is done.
You rule. The pictures are great!
Thank you, Elyse.
So, about those voices in your head …
You’ll have to speak louder, if you want to have a conversation with me. The voices tend to get loud.
OF COURSE : )
Hahaha… all is fair in love and Reese’s!
Unless we’re talking about MY Reese’s. Or MY icecream. Or MY Reese’s icecream.
Naturally.
🙂
Exactly. Naturally.
Those photos are priceless! The proposal and “crazy face” pictures especially have me giggling. And, oh man. Wanting RPBCs so, so very much.
Glad I got you giggling, Deb. The posts today have been a great deal of fun to read.
So funny! Whenever I go to Cold Stone Creamery, I always order the same thing. Mint ice cream with a peanut butter cup mixed in. And they look at me like I’m crazy! Now I know I’ll just have to bring you with me, to share the crazy. (P.S. Are those your friends and family? That is brilliant that you got them to help with your post!)
Ooooh, I love mint, too. I’ll have to try that mixture, Melissa. Thanks for mentioning it.
Yes, the folks pictured are friends and family – mostly family. We’re all a little crazy. (smile) Life is good.
LOL Fabulous post!! I love the idea of a peanut butter cup proposal…I think I would be secretly hoping for the egg. (And I was telling Darla – I did give out monogrammed Reese’s pb cups as wedding favors!)
Your wedding favors is brilliant, Jules! I love the fact that you did that. Very cool.
So happy to meet another woman who holds extended inner dialogues and loves ice cream! And gah! That crazy looking fellow with the nose ring scared the *hell* out of me. Hmm. Peanut butter-chocolate ice cream, lol?
Ben & Jerry’s has a peanut butter cup ice cream. Um… so I’ve heard. *cough*
For the record – that guy photographed is a gentle giant. Really. But don’t let the word get out – it will ruin his street cred.
Ice cream and Reeses? Genius!
I admit: I’m usually not a PB candy girl either. Reese’s cups are the only exception…about once a year…around Easter.
Love the pics! Especially of the guys on their knees showing their love with Reeses!
My husband has been in heaven these past few days. I had so many Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups in the house, and I just won’t eat ’em. But… I did enjoy the ice cream and PBC – very much. That will be had again – for certain. Glad you liked the pictures. Thank you!
Awesome pictures! And your RPBC ice cream sandwich looks waaaay better than the RPBC double stuff Oreo sandwich I found. Although, I wouldn’t have the patience to make a sandwich. I’d just dump them in the bowl with the ice cream and eat it all with a spoon!
Your way is definitely easier, Amy. Next time I will just crumble and dump. Mmmm… crumble and dump.
Glad you liked the pictures. Thank you muchly!
I’m not much for sweets, but Reese’s is my favorite. Blessings – Maxi
Reese’s with ice cream is my favorite Reese’s. 🙂
Ice cream peanut butter cup sandwiches? Lenore, you are a lady after my own heart!
Loved your fun photos! 🙂
Glad you liked it, Jackie. There was no way I could get through the post without turning the attention towards ice cream.
The ice cream addition is a really good idea… hm…
I think you mean “mmm…”.
Having just eaten an entire can of chocolate macaroons, I am reeling at the sight of your photos. I am laughing, I think, or else I am delerious.
Macaroons, eh? I’m inclined to go with delirium, though laughter is appreciated regardless. Thanks, Renee!
Hi,
An ice-cream sandwich now that is the way to go. 😀
Love the photos.
Hello Mags. I hope you get to enjoy an ice-cream sandwich soon. It is delightful!
Of couirse I have never heard of or tried Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups and when I opened the computer this moirning was surprised to see so many of my blgging friends had written on the subject. Enjoy your ice cream sandwich Lenore.
Hmmm… I may have to send some Reese’s your way, Judith. What do you think about the combination of chocolate and peanut butter?
Hi Lenore. Liked your take on the topic of the day – Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, or whatever form of Reeses you enjoy. I’ve seen your name on my sister’s blog, Pegoleg. I’m enjoying the fun. That Peg seems to have lots of ideas up her sleeve lately… You guys should be FP collectively!
Thanks for reading, Tar-Buns. I am glad you liked my take on the topic. Peg is all kinds of awesome for gathering some of us together to take over WordPress. I think we left the world a little more peaceful, too. 🙂
This Lenore woman you’re talking with might be turning me around a bit in my feelings about RPBC (you can tell those of us in this coup because we’re all using the acronym out of exhaustion from typing it out). The ice cream photo just about did me in. You are a culinary genius.
Hang on a second, hang on a second. I’m Lenore. Are you telling me one of my voices may be turning you around? I mean, give credit where credit is due, Angie. I don’t want to upset the voices, and if I – Lenore – accept credit for changing your mind, I may not hear the end of it from the other voices. Wait. Now I’m confused. I think I need another RPCU ice cream sandwich.
I thought you were Lenore? And you were talking to Lenore, am I right? Wait, is this Lenore? Or is this Lenore? Who’s on first?
What do you mean I’m pregnant? I’m not pregnant.
How could you forget about John Denver? How?
Kermit the frog made me do it.
Great, now I not only want peanut butter cups, but ice cream and Nutter Butters as well. Thanks.
A trifecta! I like the sound of it.
I think Katy is on to something here. Nutter Butters would really go along way texturally with the ice cream and RPBCs. Carry on.
I have my mission papers. I will report back with an update soon. (oh the things I do for my readers. must you make me eat ice cream?! must you?!)
“No, I don’t like the peanut butter.” What? It’s just un-American. PBj…peanut butter cookies…Reese’s…and then the schools said “No peanuts. Kids are allergic to peanuts.” Poor souls who do not know what they are missing…with chocolate no less. Great photo story. Your family and friends are very crazy in a good way! 🙂
I know, I know. Sad, eh? I do like PB&Js, though. And, I love peanut butter and banana sandwiches. PLUS – fluffernutters are my absolute favorite sandwiches. So, I can’t say I don’t like peanut butter 100% – just not a fan of the choco/nutter combo… unless ice cream is involved.
Yummy. And I can’t have sugar for two weeks. Was this a conspiracy?
*sigh* I’m sorry, Patti. You’re not missing anything, I promise. Here … have a carrot. 🙂
Gee, thanks. You’re a swell friend, Lenore. Actually, carrots aren’t allowed either–too starchy.
This was great. I’m not sure which picture was funnier — Bearded Guy Eating A Reese’s or Girl Preferring The Wrong Suitor’s Offering.
Thank you, Laura. The Bearded guy is one of the best guys you could ever meet. He is awesome. As is the girl looking for a cup rather than an egg. (smile) I had great people involved in the fun. Glad you enjoyed it.
So fun, Lenore! I just ripped an ear off of a chocolate bunny and stuck it in the peanut butter. Pure joy and deliciousness. I hope you had a beautiful Easter!
We had an excellent Easter, Nancy. Thank you. I hope that chocolate bunny is yummy – with or without the peanut butter!
