In case you are new here, I am on day nineteen of 25 days and 25 different performances of the Christmas song, “O Holy Night”. For those of you who are not new, please pardon my repetitive opening throughout the course of these 25 days.
Two of my sisters and I love the song “O Holy Night”. After a series of emails with one of my sisters, I came up with the idea of sharing different versions/performances of the song “O Holy Night”.
You are enjoying the final ten, folks. Welcome to version number nineteen.
Full disclosure, this guy was not on my original list of performers. His performance is incredible, and he is known for his version. Still, I had not intended on including him. Then, my blogging buddy, Leonore, specifically mentioned his name, letting me know she looked forward to hearing him sing. He is, afterall, one of her favorites. How could I disappoint someone who has such an awesome name? (Even if she does misspell and mispronounce it.)
Born in the mid thirties, we lost him to cancer in 2007. Thankfully, his voice lives on for countless others to hear and appreciate. If you access his website, his singing plays in the background. Absolutely wonderful!
So, today’s version is dedicated to my virtual friend, Leonore (aka As a Linguist). I hope you enjoy listening to Luciano Pavarotti singing “O Holy Night”. I did – again and again and again.
Are you going to make it to the end? So exciting!
As silly as it sounds, Julie – I am getting more and more excited. I hope people like the last performance. Thanks for listening!
A divine song from a divine voice who touches all. Thank you for this. I’m with jtk, what else is coming? To quote my crazy NY Italian brother-in-law, “mahvelous, mah deah, simply mahvelous.”
Wow, you are bilingual, Georgette! I’m impressed! (smile) What remains are mostly men – with one woman. I am getting more and more excited. Woo hoo!
Of course you would include Pavarotti…so fabulous.
He is pretty good, isn’t he? Glad you liked it, Amy.
Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!! I can just never get enough of that voice – it gives me chills. And I have to say, I’ve been looking forward to this all day long and finally, at 9:45pm, I get to listen to it and it makes me very happy 🙂 In fact, I just hit ‘play’ again!
(Wait, who mispronounces our name? 😉 )
Yay! Not a bad way to end the day, eh? Glad you had a chance to listen, Leonore. Thanks for visiting.
Absolute goosebumps!! Thank you so much!!! I’ve never heard him sing anything in English. How cool!
Had to hook up my computer to my really, really good speaker, so I could crank this one up!
You are welcome, M2M. I am happy to hear you enjoyed it. (Even better that you went to the effort to hook up the (really, really) good speaker!) I hope you will come back and enjoy it whenever you need an added lift. Thanks for visiting, M2M!
Pavarotti brings a certain majesty to everything he sings. This was no exception, it was gorgeous, LD. Simply gorgeous.
Glad you liked it, Lisa. He really does bring a certain majesty to the music, doesn’t he? Feel free to listen again and again and again!
Wow.
Powerful, eh? Glad you liked it.
