Legends tie the Dogwood tree to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The reddish tinge on the flower is said to represent the blood of Christ.
While I cannot attest to the validity of the legend, the story is one I remember this time of year – every year. So, in honor of Easter Sunday and Jesus, I give you the flower of the Dogwood.
