What the heck do I know?

Hello, my name is Lenore. I’ve already come out of the closet as it pertains to my religious views. I am a Christian. I’ve already come out of the closet as it pertains to my political views. I vote Republican. However, there is one thing I have kept close to my chest.

I fear disclosing this fact will open the door to insults, accusations, and violence. I feel sharing this information will require me to become concerned about the safety of my life and the life of my family. (Thankfully, admitting my Republican voting Christian ways only brought good tidings and warm wishes from everyone.) Continue reading

The Proverbial Bridge

Patti left me a comment. She wrote, “I don’t know if you “do” awards, but I have one for you on Thursday’s blog if interested.”

When I read her comment, I chuckled to myself. Who doesn’t appreciate a kind word? Who doesn’t appreciate a special nod, letting you know that what you do makes a difference in the life of someone else?

Don’t get me wrong, I am not equating a nod from a friend to curing Polio or winning the Nobel prize. However, if you are able to make someone smile, help him/her get through a rough day, or just give someone’s stress filled mind a bit of respite for a moment or two, is that not something to appreciate? Liking the sound of my own writing

We gathered at my brother’s house this past weekend. We were celebrating the high school graduation of my brother’s daughter. All my siblings came to the celebration, so the house was full.

At one point, everyone got together while my niece opened her cards and presents from the countless well-wishers. After the 50th (or was it the 50th gabillion) card, the peanut gallery became slap happy. Facial expressions, rolling eyes and hand signals were used when the lengthier cards were read aloud.
