Forty two years ago today …

Forty two years ago today, my brother cried. He was bummed that his Mom birthed another baby girl. He already had four sisters, and he really didn’t want a fifth. Nowadays, my brother does his best to make me cry, while his wife does her best to keep us separated during family gatherings. I’m kidding. Sorta. My brother and I definitely (and sometimes deliberately) push each others buttons, but we have a healthy and happy brother/sister relationship. (Oh hush, Joe D. We do, too.) Bedfellows, Buddies and Berber – Oh my!

Having spent the past six days with a sick child, we are thrilled to start today off with a completely healthy household. The crowd goes wild! Our routine is back. And again, the crowd goes wild.

Charlie spent three nights sleeping with me, in Mommy and Daddy’s bed. And Daddy – well, Daddy slept on the couch. Last night, Charlie was ready, willing and able to return to his bed. Immediately, Joe asked if he could sleep in Mommy and Daddy’s bed. Daddy said yes. I had to work and wasn’t home, so Daddy actually got to sleep in the bed.

Question: Are exaggerations a form of creativity, or are exaggerations simply lies told with excitement?

“Someone pushed Joe down today.” Joe’s teacher told me. “I think it knocked the wind out of him a little. He was fine, though.” She continued, “I heard Joe talk about it on the playground. He’s gone from telling the other kids he was knocked out for a second to 15 minutes. The time keeps increasing.”
