Yes, this is egg on my face.

You might be one of them, standing by the entry way to the grocery store with your youngin’ in tow, waiting for people to walk by you, hoping to make eye contact with the individual and ask the question, “Would you like to buy a box of Girl Scout Cookies?” Or maybe, you are the one that drives your son around the neighborhood, stopping at every house and walking with him to the door, as he does his best to sell popcorn for his Cub Scout troop.

I was never going to be that parent. Nope. If my kid was asked to raise money or sell something, I told myself I would make him do the work on his own. He needed to find out – through hard work and pavement pounding – what was involved in raising money, whether the money came from selling something or taking part in a sporting event. No Siree! We’re Friends, Right?

I received a note from a friend, “I am so ticked at the moment.” She wrote. “Apparently, if you post stuff on Facebook, you have communicated with your friends.”

Her gripe concerned one of her friends, who recently had a biopsy and posted the results (clear) on Facebook. See, my friend is not on Facebook, and she found out about her friend’s biopsy and the results of the biopsy through her husband, who saw it posted on Facebook. It’s a Big 80s Weekend!

Chances are, if you turn on your radio on a Saturday or Sunday, a FM station will be playing nothing but 80s music. This was the case for me today, as I listened to my car radio while doing errands.

Growing up, I listened to the music my siblings played frequently, which included but was not limited to: Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Rush, Eric Clapton, Cat Stevens, James Taylor, Neil Diamond, and John Denver. Once my siblings moved out of the house, I found my own music, which included but was not limited to: John Denver, Huey Lewis, Journey, Prince, The Police, Squeeze and every single soundtrack created by John Hughes.
