BlogFestivus 2012: a seasonal short story writing challenge.
Blogdramedy’s writing challenge continues, though I am many days behind in the adventure. I appreciate your patience, while I try to catch up with the rest o’ the team (or at least finish a little late). Please access the links to the other writers on board this joyous reindeer train. You’ll find the list of links at the end of this post.
Part 6
“I’m going to kill him!” Dasher screamed.
“Easy there,” Dancer said. “Let’s not start this whole thing up again. The kid is alive, and we’re all off the hook. Let’s just try to come together –“
“Shut up!” Dasher interrupted. “I’m tired of your ‘let’s all just get along’ attitude. The kid was out of line. He needs to pay.”
“Seriously Dancer,” Prancer said. “The kid played us, and he wasn’t playing us with simple name calling.”
“Not an hour ago, Prancer, you were telling Dasher this was all on him. And now – now you’re ready to fight alongside him? Come on guys. You two need to be the bigger bucks here and let it go. You know Vixen has your back, and she’ll let the kid have it. Trust her.”
“Look. If you want to head over to Vixen’s place and meet up with the others, that’s fine by me.” Dasher said. “But, if that kid wants to stay alive, I best not be in the same room with him.”
The doorbell rang.
“You expecting company, Prancer?” Dasher asked.
“No.” Prancer answered. “I wasn’t expecting any of this shit today.”
Prancer opened and found Cupid singing his heart out, oblivious to the others in the room. “Who broke my heart? You did; you did; Bow to the target; blame Cupid, Cupid. You think you’re smart – stupid, stupid. Shoot that poison arrow to my heart. Shoot that poison arrow.”
“Wow. This is awkward.”

I don’t know how you do it…now with the show tunes. 🙂
I have had that song playing in my head (among others) since you unleashed the idea and theme. Please. Make it stop. 🙂
I’ll keep looking out for the rest of your posts, I can’t miss the finale, now can I. 😉
Thank you so much, Sarah. Knowing there are readers looking for the end is what keeps me going. I appreciate you!
Props to you for even attempting this at this time of year, with 2 young, active boys. Even more props for pulling it off so eloquently!
Oh Peg, I feel I am failing miserably. I didn’t want to miss the fun, but all be darned if life didn’t have other things planned for me. What’s up with that, eh? Rude if you ask me. Oh well. I’ll finish. I must finish.
Oh great — guess what song’s in MY head now? I love you a little less for that….
My job is to force you to remember my crazy. I am glad I was successful today.
