The drabble is back. That is to say, my drabble dabbling is back. What is a ‘drabble’ you ask? A drabble is a short work of fiction, exactly 100 words in length.

The storms were violent, taking many trees down.
And, the power was out throughout the whole town.

Fearing the worst, she made a call to her spouse.
Hoping to learn they were safe at the house.

He answered the phone, and said the news was not good.
Their living room and kitchen were now filled with wood.

But his tone remained too somber; and he paused for too long.
She knew there was something – something else there was wrong.

She started to shake, wondering if she could take it.
“I’m sorry,” he said. “Your ice cream did not make it.”
