In case you are new here, I am on day four of 25 days and 25 different performances of the Christmas song, “O Holy Night”. For those of you who are not new, please pardon my repetitive opening throughout the course of these 25 days.
Two of my sisters and I love the song “O Holy Night”. After a series of emails with one of my sisters, I came up with the idea of sharing different versions/performances of the song “O Holy Night”.
Welcome to version number four.
Today’s selection is by a singer I fell in love with the instant I heard her voice.
When I was in my early twenties, I spent a great deal of time listening to live acoustic music at a place called, “Trackside Tavern”. Later, the manager of Trackside opened a new place called, “Eddie’s Attic”. Those two music venues housed some of the best acoustic performers and laid the groundwork for my love of acoustic music. Eddie’s is still hosting performers, and I’ve yet to hear a bad performance.
Though this singer never graced the stage at Trackside or Eddie’s, she sings her songs in such an intimate and peaceful way, she’d fit in perfectly.
Please enjoy the fourth installment to my 25 days of “O Holy Night” sung by Tracy Chapman (without the Fast Car).
I love Tracy Chapman – and acoustic performances. You have certainly found a wide array of performers – what fun.
Yay! Another Tracy Chapman and acoustic fan. Good taste, K8, though I knew that already about you. Glad you are enjoying the different versions. There is more to come!
I love this version! There’s just something about acoustic music that is so soulful. Now I want to go find some live music somewhere! 🙂
I’m glad you liked Tracy Chapman, Leonore. I enjoy her version, too. Acoustic music sounds pure to me. Less production.
I haven’t heard this version. I really enjoyed it. I think it’s my fave so far, but I know we have 21 versions to go, so I don’t want to commit too early.
And how do you get that “snow” on your home page? 🙂
You know what, Jackie – I wondered if I was play Tracy too soon in the game. Her version is unique – which is hard to do for a song covered by just about everyone. I’m hoping one or two more will generate a similar reaction to Tracy. We’ll see.
The snow is achieved by going to your Settings on the Dashboard. Go to Settings, General and scroll to the bottom. You’ll find a box to check if you want snow.
I like Tracy too….but had never heard this. Nice!
I’m glad you liked it, Winsome. I’m starting to think I should have held on to this version a little longer. I hope I haven’t peaked on day #4.
This might be the best version I have ever heard. Love it.
Maybe you’ll hear another version you like over the course of the next several days. As I told Winsome, I’m starting to think I should have held on to Tracy a little longer. Thanks for visiting!
I almost grew up listening to Tracy Chapman, but hadn’t heard this one. She has such a full voice, don’t you think? Nothing else is needed.
I do agree, Priya. She does have a full voice, and she doesn’t need lots of different instruments to accompany her voice. I am glad you stopped by. Thank you!
The sweet, simple melody of this version touched me … my favorite so far.
I am glad you enjoyed it, Maxi. This seems to be the most popular so far.
Hi Lenore Diane. I am still waiting for the geek to fix the sound on my computer so will have to listen to all of these together later. Thanks for the great idea.
Hello Judith. I hope the geeks get your sound working. This music will certainly help put/keep you in Christmas spirit. At least, that’s my hope. I am glad you like the idea.
