Fighting the Battle against Cancer

My friend and her Cancer Warrior, Kate, during her end of chemo party.

I received an email from a friend of mine. She is an advocate for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, by participating in Team in Training. And, she is currently training to complete the Nike Women’s Marathon on October 17th with the LLS Team in Training crew.

My friend is running for Annabelle and Kate, two young Cancer Warriors. Working towards her goal to raise $3,000 in honor of Annabelle and Kate, she wants to make it to the halfway point for her goal by August 14th. Will you help?

Please consider helping my friend make her goal, while she helps fight the battle to win the War against Cancer. You may access her fund raising page here:

And to my friend, thank you for running. Donating money is easy. Running a marathon is hard. Battling Cancer is even tougher. Please help.

Can you help?

I come to you, asking for help. I have many friends actively advocating for and giving back to the community and the people within the community. I’m not a person who walks the 30 miles, runs the marathon or saves animals from being euthanized, I merely get out my check book or write about their needs. And, I tell myself, with the donations I make and the blogs I post, I am helping. Join me, please.

Pick of the Litter is in need of a large crate to use while caring for and transporting large dogs. The crate (pictured) typically sells for $230; however, Pick of the Litter can get it for $50. Any chance you can donate the $50 or a portion of the $5o to help Pick of the Litter purchase the crate?

Please access their website and donate online:

Kate, Cancer Survivor

Another friend of mine is getting closer to the date of her next marathon – Nike’s Women’s Marathon. The marathon, which takes place in October, is a race to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Prior to the run, participants sponsor children directly affected by Leukemia or Lymphoma. My friend’s first sponsor (Hero) was Kate (pictured), who is doing great, these days. However, my friend’s current sponsor (Hero) is Annabelle, who is back in the hospital as I type.

Will you help my friend raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society? Ever donation counts. On behalf of Kate and Annabelle (and their parents), thank you.

Team in Training and Helping LLS

Angela with one of her inspriations and motivations, Kate.

There is something to be said about social networks and social networking. Actually, many things can be said about social networks and social networking. Through Facebook, I’ve learned about great organizations and great people making a difference in the world.

One Facebook friend of mine, Angela, is very active with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training. Angela participates in many marathons, in an effort to raise awareness and raise funds for people battling Leukemia and/or Lymphoma. Angela has seen the faces of many Cancer Warriors, and she keeps all their names and faces in her heart and on her mind.

Now, while I sit at my desk being busy doing nothing, Angela is back in training. She is training to run another marathon in October. On October 17, 2010, Angela and thousands of other Team in Training participants will be running the Nike Women’s Marathon. Each runner is running for a local patient, whose struggle with blood cancer inspires and motivates.

I ask and encourage you to take a minute, access Angela’s Team in Training website and make a donation. I hope neither you nor your family have had to deal with battling Leukemia or Lymphoma. Perhaps making a donation will serve as a personal investment to finding a cure, just in case you do find yourself in the battle. And, on behalf of Angela, Kate and the countless other Cancer Warriors, I thank you for your time and monetary support.
