Road Trip! What a blast!

Here’s the thing, I feel the need to point out that my blogging has waned the past several days. Have you noticed?

I’m behind. Behind in writing and behind in reading. When I find time to read, the background noise increases and becomes too distracting to enjoy what I am reading. When I find time to write, my head is overwhelmed with unorganized ramblings of ideas and my energy level is low to non-existent, so I am unable to organize the rambling of ideas.

What does one call this state? Writer’s block? Lazy writer syndrome? I don’t have the answer, and I don’t have the energy to dwell on finding the answer. Moreover, I know you’d rather I focus on the true purpose of this post. After all, if I am making my return to the blogosphere, I should make my return start off with a bang, right? Untitled in Two Parts

My frequent visitors may recall, my friend’s Mom died December 23,  2010. I wrote a post on Dec. 8th, as my friend, Andrea HT, headed to NC to be with her Mom before she died. No formal memorial/burial took place immediately following the death of my friend’s Mom. She and her Dad decided to wait for warmer weather, brighter and more colorful days to remember the life of Valentina Hartford.

Recently, my family and I returned from Hillsborough, NC, the location of the memorial celebration. The word ‘celebration’ follows the word ‘memorial’, because the purpose was to celebrate the life of Valentina. The celebration took place on a farm off Highland Farm Road. Though the gathering took place in the middle of June, the weather was pleasant.

The heat and humidity that seems to be a constant during the summer, eased its grip on this particular day. Pop-up thunderstorms, another common occurrence in the summer, were non-existent, and the farm offered a picturesque setting, complete with a rustic barn and a worn red tractor in the pasture. Keeping up with the Comments

In my opinion, I subscribe to the best of the best of blogs. Not only do the writers entertain me with their posts, but they attract the best of the best of commenter[s].  Kim, the G is silent, a fellow blogger, shares my sentiment in a comment she left on Blurt’s “Irony, With Mustard and Kraut” stating, “I need to stop reading all the comments before commenting on my own. With each comment I feel my funny slip-sliding away. Bastards.”

I agree with Kim. One has to be quick to leave a comment on the best of the best of the blogs or risk being overshadowed by another best of the best of commeter[s]. Moreover, I admit I’m competitive, and I admit I think I am funny looking. Funny thing about blogs, you realize A.) you’re not the only writer in the world, and B.) you’re not the funniest looking person in the world.

There was a time when talent was hard to fine, seemingly rare. For one to get noticed/discovered one needed to be in the right place at the right time. Nowadays, one just needs to audition for one of the many ‘talent’ driven television shows: American Idol, America’s Got Talent, So You Think You can Dance, The Voice, etc. Or, one just needs to upload a video to YouTube and promote the heck out of the video until it is viral. Nowadays, everyone is talented. Bummer. Continue reading “Keeping up with the Comments”
