Climbing aboard the tribute train

Okay, okay. Since everyone else is writing about their Dads in honor of Father’s Day, I will, too. No, I am not going to jump off the bridge if everyone else does, but I would be happy to watch and write about it.

Actually, I am not going to write about my Dad. I will tell you I miss him, because I do. He died when I was 25yrs old. He never had the opportunity to meet my husband or my two boys. I’ve written about Dad in past posts (here’s a good one). When I read posts written by others about their Dad, tears well up in my eyes, as I feel a similar sense of pride and love for my Dad. But. I’m not going there today. For whatever reason, I feel like sadness is creeping in to my blogosphere, and I’d like to try and brighten things up a bit.

So. I am going to write about Rob. But, please don’t tell Rob, OK? See, Rob hates it when I talk about him on this here blog. Hates it. If I post pictures, he hates it even more. I’ve had to pull pictures from my blog, per his request. He was only a little nude. Continue reading “Climbing aboard the tribute train”

Frickin’ frackin’ foreclosure

Last year, I wrote a post titled “Off to School”. The post was about our oldest son starting Kindergarten and our decision to enroll him in a Montessori school. I wrote the post early in my blogging career, back when I had all of two readers: a sister and a friend.

This post is about school, too. Actually, this post is about one school. My son’s school. The school my youngest was going to enter in August. The school we hoped to stick with through elementary school. Funny how things change. Not funny really. Sad. Quite sad.

I have a list of books recommended by my readers. As a result, I am reading more and more. I am exposing myself to many different authors. I am learning that many authors write incomplete sentences. For impact? Maybe? Regardless, based on the books I am reading, there is nothing wrong with the short non-sentences in the second paragraph. Moreover, the fact that this has nothing to do with the bulk of the post is acceptable, too. Continue reading “Frickin’ frackin’ foreclosure”

Adventure Girl’s Trail Tales: Update #11

My introduction will be short, because I have not one but two journal entries to share with you. That’s right, readers – Adventure Girl updated her journal twice since last week. That said, this post is a long one.

You may remember, as of last Saturday, Adventure Girl was located along the Taconic State Parkway near Shenandoah, NY. Early this morning, June 11th, we received her message indicating she was now located in the state of Massachusetts. More specifically, she was along US Highway 7 near Sheffield, MA. However, as I mentioned last week, Adventure Girl is stepping off the trail for a few days. June 12th, Adventure Girl is boarding a plane and heading home to Atlanta to attend college orientation at my Alma Mater, University of Georgia. I am going to call Adventure Girl early Monday morning, while she travels to Athens, GA. My goal is to interview her. Do you have questions you’d like to ask adventure Girl? If so, please be sure to leave your questions in the comment section.

In the meantime, enjoy Adventure Girl’s Trail Tales in her own words. Continue reading “Adventure Girl’s Trail Tales: Update #11”
