The Tale of the White Elephant

Are you familiar with the term ‘White Elephant’? Generally speaking, white elephant represents something you have in your possession that you would like to toss in the trash; however, for some reason, you feel a sense of obligation and you hold on to the item you do not want.

White Elephant gift exchanges are gatherings where you are encouraged to bring the above described item and (with the absence of guilt) pass it along to someone else. Project 366: Day 17

2012: A Photo A Day

Yesterday, I wrote a post about things I said I would never do and ended up doing. Included in the list was the mention that I vowed never to get my kids video games. What I did not say was that I would never buy video games for me and Rob.

Pre-kids, Rob and I went to Wal-Mart and bought two cool little gadgets that hooked to the television and allowed us to travel back in time. We traveled to time when arcades were filled with games like Pong, Dig-dug, Adventure, Rally X, Breakout, etc.

Sometimes, on the weekends, the boys will play these games. How funny it is to watch our boys play Pong and love it. (Long live the classics!) Continue reading “Project 366: Day 17”

Oh, I’ll never do that!

Today, I am participating in Monday Listicles, a weekly creation started by Stasha at The Good Life. The idea for today’s list comes from Greta at Not Enough Patience: 10 Things You Said You’d Never Do But Have Caught Yourself Doing.

Growing up, the ‘I never’ game was associated with drinking: an ‘I never” statement was made and if you had done it – you were to drink. Being a prudish wallflower, I always walked away from that game completely sober. The only way I could get a sip of anything was when statements like “I never ran a red light” were uttered.
